Black History

Black Butterfly, nobody saw your beauty…
but the moonlight cupped you and called you Africa.

Defiant Africa.

Resilient Africa.

Strooong Africa.

wounded
twisted
fermented
Africa

Starving
Hungry
Feed us
Feed me
Care.For.Me.Dammit
A-fri-ca!

Stricken
Manifest

Destiny

Yes, I Believe in YOU!

Destination
Location
Africa.

Africa, who is
broken
neglected
powerful
rooted
wise
knowing

inspite of

despite of

her plight
in life.

Africa, who cries
and hides her tears in monsoons and basins
beside bewildered beasts
and wilderbeasts
and Hyenna
who heckle
at the brethen and children of her own land

Africa, who resonates in me
in you
in us.

because Africa
is
everything
We sometimes feel—

hungry for change
helpless
proud
and ignored
as we pretend to be stronger than we feel

because AFRICA
is
everything
We sometimes are

Majestic…
Noble…

Black.

Oh Black Butterfly, so many see your delicacy and not your strength…
though God blessed you and made you the mother of all lands.
